Hagaporten 3

Hagaporten 3, located in Stockholm, is an energy efficient “climate smart” office building, which consumes less energy and releases less carbon dioxide per squared metre than the average Swedish office building. The building is fuelled by renewable energy, has a green roof, is equipped with recycling facilities and has a healthy indoor environment for office staff that is designed to promote social interaction. Skanska Sweden built the US$130 million project for Skanska Commercial Development Nordic (CDN), with the plan being the ÅF, a technical consultancy, to  rent 20,000 squared metres of office space and base their new headquarters at Hagaporten 3, along with other companies occupying smaller offices.

The use of potentially hazardous construction materials was restricted, and every material was checked against Skanska Sweden’s chemical rules and the BASTA system, which is an agreement within the Swedish construction industry to phase out substances hazardous to the environment and human health.

The builder, Skanska, is raising awareness of more sustainable construction through their partnership with the EU Green Building programme. Similar to the goals of The Mosaic Centre, they hope that the programme will influence the construction industry to invest in more energy efficient buildings.
